At the MCX gold for delivery in October rose by 50, or 0.18%, to Rs 29,572 per 10 grams, with a business turnover of 235 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in August move up by Rs 48, or 0.17%, to Rs 29,205 per 10 grams in 3,778 lots.
Marketmen said fresh buying by speculators in tandem with a firming global trend mainly led to a rise in MCX gold futures.
Meanwhile, MCX gold rose by USD 8.21 to USD 1,581.71 an ounce in New York last night.
